It’s National Babies Day – 17th Oct 2008

FROM THE BONNIE BABES FOUNDATION WEBSITE:-

National Babies Day

It’s National Babies Day – Go Ga-Ga Australia

FRIDAY 17 OCTOBER

Go Ga-Ga is a celebratory idea which runs over an 8 week period and culminates in October with ‘National Babies Day’.

Traditionally, this has been Bonnie Babes biggest and most important fund raising event. The Go Ga-Ga campaign theme has featured many people, from all walks of life, some famous and some not, all with a dummy in their mouths.

The campaign encourages the general public to Go Ga-Ga by purchasing from a range of low priced items, some useful, some novel, some just plain cuddly, all found in specially marked merchandising units at every Target store, during September and October.

By purchasing any of these items, you can help the Foundation secure state-of-the-art medical equipment for many ‘premmy’ hospital wards around the country.

If you would like more information about how you or your company can support or donate to this promotion please contact enquiry@bbf.org.au

Visit the Bonnie Babes Foundation website for all the details

From Davina Hurst in Western Australia

"This shoot involved capturing some memories for this little one who is travelling to Sydney this week to undergo amputation of her foot with the hope that this will allow her to be able to walk."

We love our supporters – Meet Johanna Hayes from The Photo Store

It is so lovely when people put their hand up to help out the ACOCP, so we'd like to introduce and give a shout out to Johanna Hayes from The Photo Store

About

Johanna Hayes – The Photo Store www.thephotostore.com.au

The Photo Store is an importer and wholesaler of professional photo albums and photographic presentation products.

We have been supplying albums to Pro Photographers and Glamour Studios since 1997. Our range of products is the "off-the-shelf" alternative to custom album manufacture, so our pricing is ultra competitive and stock is readily available.  The Photo Store’s albums are not limited to Wedding use. Proud parents can display precious family photographs and Graduation memories. You can use the album to present your own portfolio of photos, giving them a "Professional Look". Groups of friends and family can share the cost and purchase a wonderful Anniversary Gift or Wedding Present.

How did you find out about the ACOCP?

I saw a recent advertisement in the AIPP Newsletter calling for volunteer photographers. I was intrigued and went to the website to read more. As soon as I read about Siobhan Cowell and her past life as a Registered Nurse I felt an instant connection. I too had been an Intensive Care Nurse and could relate to how precious photographic memories would be for families with critically ill children.

What made you to want to help the ACOCP?

Put simply, I’ve been really lucky to have 2 sons who are happy and well. As a nurse I saw many who weren’t so lucky.

I knew that I couldn’t take photos, but I could offer photo albums to present the gift of photographic memories to the families.

Why do you think we need a community like the ACOCP?

Life is not always a fairytale and unfortunately the ending isn’t always happy. The kindness of volunteer photographers with the ACOCP can help keep memories alive in the hearts of the recipients.

Johanna is one of our newest supporters and we really appreciate her commitment to the ACOCP

Without the help of people like Johanna the ACOCP would not be the great organisation it is today

Thanks Johanna!

Casandra’s first ACOCP photo session

My name is Casandra Anguita Deep from caspix.photography in Sydney. I am a wife, a mother and a photographer and run my own business from home. I can be found online at http://www.caspix.com.au.

There is nothing more sublime for me than photography. To make the ordinary look extraordinary, to celebrate the colour of life and love in all its forms. It is not a job for me, it’s just who I am. I wake up every morning and dream about what I am going to capture that day, every day. I am blessed to be living my dream.

I am a proud member of the Australian Community of Children’s Photographers and I have just completed my first job for them.

The call came late at night last weekend whilst I was baking for my eldest son’s birthday party. A social worker from a big Sydney hospital was with a  family who’s baby had passed away.  The experience, though very very sad was also incredibly beautiful. The atmosphere was peaceful, calm and full of love. Even though this little baby was not with us anymore, he still had such a presence in the room. I was deeply touched and the whole reason why I had volunteered for this organisation came back to me ten fold, just how much we can reach out and give to families in these sad sad situations.
